Houston-area dealers sold 351,690 cars, trucks, and SUVs in the 12 months ending March ’24, a 5.9 percent increase over the 333,165 sold over the comparable period in ‘23, according to TexAuto Facts, published by InfoNation, Inc. Car sales are up 5.2 percent, truck and SUV sales, 5.7 percent.
There was an overall increase in vehicle sales through the 12 months ending in March '24, despite monthly totals dropping across both cars and trucks.
However, average retail prices for new vehicles slipped compared to the last year, with new car prices slightly increasing and truck/SUV prices dropping.
Trucks and SUVs accounted for 78.5 percent of all new vehicles sold in March and cars for 21.5 percent.
